Excelsior Artz Preparatory School
Parents Bring “Lofty Library Dream “to Reality
Excelsior Artz Preparatory School envisions classroom libraries that are vast and diverse. Children are motivated to read when they can select from a library of books that appeal to their level of reading and interest. In order to inspire children to become avid readers, we will teach our students to pick good fit books- books that they can read fluently, understand, and are interested in reading. As a part of our Daily 5 structure, students will have the opportunity to choose and read a book of their choice each day right in their own classrooms. Currently, we are clearing out our school’s library to place books in relevant classrooms. We have also purchased science readers that are based on topics and grade levels. Our goal is ensure that each classroom has between 500-700 books. We can’t do this by ourselves, but we can do it with your help. We can do it together; together, yes we can!
Parents, please consider supporting our lofty dream which is to install vast libraries in each classroom. You can support this initiative in any of the following ways:
1. Donate any books that are in good condition and are no longer used by your child. We will provide labels that read which family donated the book.
2. Purchase a book with your child that he or she likes and would like to donate to his/her class’ library. Your child will be enthusiastic about this and it will ensure that his/her favorite book is in his/her classroom. We will provide labels that read which family donated the book.
3. Volunteering to help set up your child’s classroom library. Visit excelsiorprep.org to sign up for this project.
